FOLA releases sophomore album ‘9’ featuring major collaborations

Nigerian singer and songwriter FOLA has released his sophomore studio album, titled ‘9’. The 14-track project follows his debut album, ‘Catharsis’, which achieved over 100 million streams and reached number one on the Official Nigeria Top 100 Albums chart.

The album features several high-profile collaborations, including Davido, Ayra Starr, BNXN, Darkoo, Bella Shmurda, and Zlatan. Notably, the track ‘Crime’ samples 2Baba’s 2006 classic ‘If Love Is a Crime’, while the track ‘How Many’ incorporates an excerpt from a Harvard speech by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie regarding the relationship between fear and creativity.

FOLA has expressed gratitude to both Adichie and 2Baba for their contributions to the arts and their influence on his generation. The title ‘9’ serves as a metaphor for a striker in football, representing the artist's goal to be a reliable provider of hits.
