Folarin Balogun excluded from Monaco squad after Everton transfer collapse

Folarin Balogun has been excluded from AS Monaco’s UEFA Conference League squad following the collapse of a high-profile transfer to Everton. The deal, valued at approximately €50 million, unraveled on deadline day after Everton raised concerns regarding Balogun’s medical results. Although Everton eventually cleared the player to sign, Balogun ultimately declined to finalize the contract, citing discomfort with how the club handled his medical assessments and his future.

The failed transfer has left both clubs in difficult positions. Monaco, facing financial pressure to comply with league rules, missed out on significant transfer income and has left the striker out of their European and domestic plans for the time being. Everton is facing a severe shortage of attacking depth, leaving manager David Moyes with only one senior natural striker, Thierno Barry, after several departures.

Moyes has expressed frustration regarding the club's squad management and noted that he has had no direct communication with owner Dan Friedkin since his return to the club. To address the striker crisis, Everton is reportedly considering an emergency move for free agent Jamie Vardy.
