Follonica councilor calls for environmental assessment of TI-Link project

Giacomo Manni, a local councilor in Follonica, has called for a thorough assessment of the TI-Link project to determine its compatibility with the Follonica Gulf before discussing any compensatory measures.

Manni noted that while the project is a significant initiative for energy transition and decarbonization, the focus must remain on environmental impact. He emphasized that compensation should only address the inconveniences of a compatible project, rather than being used to justify an incompatible one.

The councilor highlighted that the Gulf is already under significant pressure from climate change, coastal erosion, tourism, aquaculture, and existing industrial and energy activities. He has requested the reactivation of the 'Tavolo del Golfo' to create an updated, independent environmental status report to evaluate the cumulative effects of these various pressures.
