Foluso Omole arrested over alleged $5m NDIS fraud

Foluso Omole, a 38-year-old dual Australian and Nigerian citizen, has been arrested at Adelaide Airport by the Australian Federal Police. He faces charges related to an alleged $5 million fraud involving Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Prosecutors allege that Omole, who worked as an NDIS coordinator and operated two businesses, obtained confidential information improperly from an employee of the National Disability Insurance Agency over a six-year period. This information was allegedly used to fraudulently access NDIS benefits. The employee involved has also been charged.

During a hearing at the Adelaide Magistrates Court, Omole’s bail application was denied. Prosecutors argued that Omole was a flight risk, noting he had purchased a one-way ticket to Nigeria and had reportedly sent significant funds to his wife in Nigeria. While his lawyer argued that Omole intended to travel to London on a return ticket, Magistrate Patrick Hill rejected the application, citing the serious concern that Omole might flee the country. Omole is scheduled to appear in court again in September.
