Fomento SGOIC approved as large-scale asset manager by CMVM

Fomento - Fundos de investimento Imobiliário, SGOIC, has received approval from the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) to be classified as a large-scale asset manager. This regulatory status allows the company to operate with assets exceeding the 500 million euro threshold.

Currently managing approximately 440 million euros in assets, Fomento intends to use this new framework to develop larger investment vehicles, manage more complex operations, and pursue significant economic opportunities. Abel Mascarenhas, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that the change represents ‘a new cycle’ for the company, aimed at mobilizing long-term capital to support the growth and competitiveness of Portuguese businesses.

Founded in 1995, Fomento is owned by Banco Português de Fomento (53.2%), Caixa Geral de Depósitos (33.5%), and Novo Banco (13.3%). Its current portfolio includes five funds dedicated to tourism and industrial activities.
