FOMWAN holds national conference in Umuahia to address national challenges

The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) is convening its 2026 Annual National Conference in Umuahia, Abia State. The event is expected to draw over 600 participants, including scholars, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders from across the country.

Under the theme ‘Faith, Resilience and Responsibility: Muslim Women Responding to Challenges,’ the conference aims to address pressing national issues such as insecurity, economic pressure, youth unemployment, social fragmentation, and climate-related crises. Dr. Sumaye Fadimatu Hamza, the 11th National Amirah of FOMWAN, stated that these challenges necessitate renewed commitment and purposeful leadership.

The gathering will serve as a platform for dialogue and networking on topics including peacebuilding, economic empowerment, education, and youth mentorship. Discussions are intended to generate practical recommendations to strengthen families, communities, and national institutions.
