Fondation Louis Vuitton opens major Gustave Fayet exhibition

The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris has opened a major exhibition titled ‘Gustave Fayet: Collector—Artist Designer’. Part of the ‘Icons of Modern Art’ series, the exhibition runs from October 9, 2026, until March 8, 2027.

The showcase explores the dual life of Gustave Fayet (1865–1925) as both a prolific collector and a multi-faceted artist and designer. The exhibition features over 250 works from Fayet’s global collection alongside 374 of his own creations, many of which are being displayed for the first time.

Key highlights include 10 paintings by Vincent van Gogh, 78 works by Paul Gauguin, and 88 by Odilon Redon. Other featured artists include Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The exhibition is supported by the collaboration of 64 international institutions and 71 private collections.

A documentary titled ‘Gustave Fayet, une vie pour l’art’ is also available on the Arte platform, providing a chronological portrait of Fayet’s diverse career as a banker, viticulturist, painter, and decorator.
