Fondation pour le Logement struggles after Abbé Pierre revelations

Two years after revelations of sexual violence committed by Abbé Pierre, the Fondation pour le Logement (formerly Fondation Abbé-Pierre) is working to stabilize its operations and public image.

To address the crisis, the foundation implemented transparency measures, including hiring the firm Egaé to collect victim testimonies and undergoing a complete rebranding with a new name and logo. Despite these efforts, the organization faces significant financial challenges. Donations have decreased by 35% since the revelations, contributing to an overall loss of approximately 17% of its resources.

General Delegate Christophe Robert noted that the foundation's budget is 97% dependent on public generosity, split between direct donations and legacies. Some donors have withdrawn support due to the decision to remove Abbé Pierre's name from the organization. The foundation continues to support 500 associations annually in its mission to combat housing exclusion and social precariousness.
