Fondazione Artemisia joins summit to combat femicide and gender violence

The Fondazione Artemisia ETS participated in the 'Stati Generali contro il Femminicidio' held on September 1, 2026, in Rome. The event, promoted by the Associazione Alleati con Te, brought together judicial, academic, and law enforcement institutions to address gender-based violence and develop concrete prevention strategies.

Mariastella Giorlandino, President of Fondazione Artemisia, emphasized the necessity of affective presence and interpersonal relationship education to address the cultural roots of violence. The meeting also addressed the psychological impact of stalking, described by Giorlandino as a progressive form of violence that limits freedom, alters daily habits, and causes profound psychological harm such as anxiety and isolation.

According to Ministry of the Interior data, 34 women were killed in the first half of 2026, with 8 cases classified as femicides under new criminal laws. Criminal analysis indicates that most of these homicides occur within the family setting, perpetrated by partners or former partners.
