Fondazione Cariverona allocates 1.6 million euros for Verona environmental projects
Fondazione Cariverona has allocated 1.6 million euros to fund four environmental projects in the Verona region as part of its “Natural Capital 2026” initiative. This funding is part of a larger 4.5 million euro commitment supporting eleven projects across the provinces of Verona, Vicenza, Belluno, Mantova, and Ancona.
The initiative aims to treat nature, including soil, water, and vegetation, as essential infrastructure rather than a secondary cost. According to Bruno Giordano, president of Fondazione Cariverona, the goal is to shift toward structural prevention to increase ecosystem resilience, improve water retention, and cool urban areas.
Specific projects in the Verona area include:
• “Naturaforte” in Verona (449,000 euros): Focused on transforming the Forte Santa Caterina area into an urban biodiversity hub through reforestation with native species.
• “Risorgi” in Buttapietra (449,000 euros): Aimed at integrating water and urban greenery through the ecological restoration of spring areas.
Other funded interventions will address mountain ecosystems in Monte Baldo and various lowland habitats to strengthen ecological connections and combat climate change.
