Fondazione Italiana di Bioarchitettura honored at Festambiente 2026

During the 38th edition of Festambiente in Rispescia, Italy, the Fondazione Italiana di Bioarchitettura and the company FBE were honored with the Legambiente and PEFC Italia award. The recognition was given for the sustainable design and construction of the San Filippo school in Cetraro, Cosenza.

The project utilizes the KlimaWall construction system, which features certified PEFC solid wood from Italian forests combined with brick, thermal storage systems, heat pumps, and photovoltaic panels. This integrated approach aims to regulate internal climates, reduce energy consumption, and improve air quality through the natural hygroscopic properties of exposed wood.

The award ceremony also focused on the broader theme of how local territories can drive the ecological transition. Speakers emphasized that innovation, sustainability, and ethics are essential tools for territorial regeneration, employment, and community well-being, rather than mere costs.
