Fondazione LINKS coordinates EU Code Week in Italy

The EU Code Week, a European programming initiative focused on computational thinking, artificial intelligence, and digital literacy, returns from October 10 to 25. In Italy, the Fondazione LINKS, an applied research institute of the Politecnico di Torino, has served as the national hub for the European consortium since 2024.

Under the coordination of Fondazione LINKS, the national network has expanded significantly over the last two years. The number of Leading Teachers has doubled from 35 to 70, facilitating structured involvement in secondary schools across the country. These activities have reached approximately 950,000 people in Italy. To further integrate the initiative into national school curricula, the Foundation has established a collaboration with INDIRE, appointing Margherita Di Stasio as the Edu Coordinator for the event.

Originally a grassroots movement that later received funding from the European Commission, the initiative promotes a technology approach rooted in creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving. Alessandro Bogliolo, the initiative's ambassador, emphasizes that an intuitive approach to programming stimulates the algorithmic reasoning necessary to navigate modern computational challenges and opportunities.
