Fondazione Magnani-Rocca recovers stolen Renoir, Cézanne, and Matisse works

The Fondazione Magnani-Rocca has recovered three major artworks stolen in March. Following a five-month investigation by the Carabinieri of Parma and the Cultural Heritage Protection Command, the pieces were found during searches authorized by the Parma Prosecutor’s Office.

The recovered works include ‘Les Poissons’ by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (circa 1917), ‘Tasse et plat de cerises’ by Paul Cézanne (circa 1890), and ‘Odalisque sur la terrasse’ by Henri Matisse (1922). These pieces were personally selected by Luigi Magnani to be shared with the public.

Foundation President Gino Gandolfi noted that while the works are worth millions of euros, their greatest value lies in being accessible to everyone. Scientific Director Stefano Roffi stated that the recovery of the Matisse, Cézanne, and Renoir restores one of the most important collections of Impressionist works in Italy.
