Fondazione San Pio initiates collective redundancies in San Giovanni Rotondo
The Fondazione San Pio da Pietrelcina in San Giovanni Rotondo has initiated a collective redundancy procedure affecting 38 employees. The staff members involved hold roles as sacristans, receptionists, and order service personnel.
The Foundation cited economic pressures caused by rising personnel costs following the renewal of the 2026-2029 CCNL Sacristi contract, alongside a perceived decline in pilgrim numbers.
Labor unions Filcams and Fisascat Cisl have expressed strong opposition to the decision. Union representatives argued that the financial burden of reduced donations should not be placed on workers and criticized the potential outsourcing of essential services to third parties to cut costs.
