Fonderie Pisano negotiations aim to protect workers in Salerno
Negotiations are underway between the ownership of Fonderie Pisano, labor unions, and the Campania Region to prevent mass layoffs at the company’s Fratte plant in Salerno. The dispute centers on the future of approximately 88 to 100 workers, as social safety nets are set to expire by October 31, 2026.
One proposed solution involves the Pisano family formally declaring the cessation of production at the Fratte site. This legal step would trigger ministerial decrees for industrial sites in crisis, allowing for the freezing of direct dismissals, the activation of extraordinary social buffers, and more time for reindustrialization efforts.
Parallel discussions involve the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and Invitalia to identify a new industrial area for a potential “green foundry” project. While the Ministry has requested a formal project proposal from the company to break the current stalemate, the ownership has maintained that they will proceed with layoffs if no developments occur. Meanwhile, health associations are mobilizing to oppose legal appeals filed by the company regarding environmental and legal issues related to the site.
