Fonderie Pisano proposes decarbonization plan to resume production
Fonderie Pisano is awaiting a decision from the Campania Region during a Services Conference regarding the reactivation of its integrated environmental authorization. The plant in Fratte has been inactive since its authorization was suspended on March 25.
To address environmental concerns and comply with Best Available Techniques (BAT) standards, the company has presented a decarbonization project. This plan involves a technological transformation where coal-fired furnaces, which have already been dismantled, will be replaced by electric furnaces. This shift aims to significantly reduce emissions and odor impact.
CEO Ciro Pisano stated that the project was developed with input from Gualtiero Corelli, an expert and European Commission representative involved in defining BAT standards. The company seeks to resume production to protect jobs and fulfill existing orders, while also planning for the future redevelopment of the Fratte site following a potential relocation to a new sustainable industrial hub.
