Fondovalle Treste road reopens to normal traffic after repairs

The Fondovalle Treste road (SP 184) has returned to normal two-way traffic following the removal of a temporary alternating one-way system. The restriction was implemented to facilitate repairs following severe erosion caused by flooding last spring.

The damage, which occurred near Furci, resulted in the collapse of approximately 100 meters of the roadway and erosion affecting an additional 200 meters of the embankment. The Province of Chieti had previously closed the section between Cupello and San Buono due to the instability and rockfalls.

To address the issue, the Abruzzo Region allocated 495,000 euros for emergency works to restore the roadbed and protect the embankment. The reopening restores a vital connection between the coastal areas of Vasto and the inland regions.
