FONSTAB initiative to support livestock farmers in Ndiaganiao
The Fonds d’appui à la stabulation (FONSTAB) has launched an initiative in Ndiaganiao, located in the Mbour department of Senegal, to improve access to financing for local livestock farmers and women. During a sensitization session held ahead of the livestock vaccination campaign, FONSTAB administrator Fatoumata Bakhoum Diouf noted that the locality has not yet benefited from the Fund’s livestock-related financing.
The program aims to assist local actors in structuring their projects, specifically by helping them form economic interest groups (GIE) or prepare individual funding applications. FONSTAB provides support through credit guarantees, interest rate subsidies, refinancing financial institutions, and project co-financing. Additionally, the initiative includes training community agricultural cooperatives in livestock management techniques.
FONSTAB also serves as an executing agency for the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP). Under the FSRP, livestock projects must be submitted through departmental livestock and animal production services or via a dedicated digital platform, following a specific selection process.
