Fontaines D.C. release fifth album ‘Dopamine Chamber’
Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. has released their fifth studio album, ‘Dopamine Chamber’, via XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, the record marks a significant sonic shift from the band’s post-punk roots toward a darker, more experimental sound incorporating synthesizers, electronic textures, and cinematic pop elements.
The album explores themes of technological dependence, environmental collapse, and the search for pleasure amidst global peril. It features a notable collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalía on the track ‘Where Is Gone?’, which frontman Grian Chatten described as a ‘career high’.
Following the success of their 2024 album ‘Romance’, the band is transitioning into stadium-sized rock. Their upcoming schedule includes a UK and European arena tour, as well as scheduled performances at Slane Castle in Ireland in 2027. The band also recorded a session for ‘Later… With Jools Holland’, set to air on BBC Two in November.
