Fontaines D. C. to release new album ‘Dopamine Chamber’

Irish indie-rock band Fontaines D. C. is releasing their fifth studio album, ‘Dopamine Chamber’, via XL Recordings. Produced with the help of James Ford, the record marks a significant sonic shift from the band’s earlier guitar-driven post-punk roots toward a darker, more electronic sound featuring heavy use of synthesizers, samples, and orchestral elements.

Frontman Grian Chatten describes the album as a reflection of a world characterized by ‘automation and loss of feeling,’ aiming to serve as a ‘catastrophic warning’ rather than a source of optimism. Thematically, the eleven tracks explore modern anxieties, including social decay, technological advancement, and the psychological impact of an artificial reality.

Notable tracks include the bass-heavy ‘Tongue’ and the ballad ‘Where Is Gone?’, which features a duet with Latin-pop artist Rosalía. Critics have noted the album’s ability to balance cold, electronic textures with deep emotional resonance, drawing comparisons to the atmospheric styles of New Order and Joy Division.
