Fontana police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing of Alberto Sánchez
Police have apprehended a suspect following the death of 40-year-old Alberto Sánchez, known as ‘Pájaro,’ in Fontana. The victim was found on Thursday, October 22, inside a building under construction near the intersection of 25 de Mayo and Cacuí avenues.
Medical examinations indicated that Sánchez suffered a wound to his left leg consistent with a knife attack, which likely severed an artery and caused fatal hemorrhaging. Security camera footage played a critical role in the investigation, showing the victim entering the premises at approximately 3:10 p.m., followed four minutes later by another individual who remained for about three minutes.
Authorities identified the suspect as 26-year-old Sergio Jair Franco G., known as ‘Porteñito.’ Following an investigation that included witness testimonies and clothing descriptions obtained from surveillance footage, police located and arrested the suspect near the Bergagno Bridge in Puerto Tirol. Clothing items were seized during the operation to be used as evidence in the ongoing judicial proceedings.
