Italian towns roll out new sports facilities and playground upgrades

Municipal authorities in several Italian towns inaugurated a series of new or refurbished sports and recreational spaces in June 2026. In Fonte Nuova, Mayor Umberto Falcioni praised the conference “Lo sport come infrastruttura trasversale di sviluppo” and highlighted sport’s role in community cohesion. Ramacca opened a renovated playground in Piazza Santa Rita, while Cosseria unveiled the multifunctional “Piazza della Gioventù” funded with €470 000 from the Ligurian regional regeneration program. San Giuliano Terme completed a €2.25 million municipal and ministerial‑funded pool renovation, and Lecce secured nearly €10 million from the national government for the “Trax Road 5.0” urban regeneration project, including new parks and smart‑city amenities. Other towns, including Monza, Foggia, Sarno, Molentargius, and Trento’s Lido Manazzon, inaugurated inclusive playgrounds, new fitness areas, and upgraded swimming facilities, often supported by regional, national or EU funds. Across these initiatives, officials emphasized inclusion, health promotion, and the revitalisation of public spaces for families and residents.
