Foo Fighters' Top Live Cover Songs Show Influence of Queen, AC/DC, Alice Cooper

Foo Fighters regularly include cover songs in their concerts, using them to pay tribute to artists who have shaped frontman Dave Grohl’s musical development and the band’s overall sound.

The most frequently performed covers are Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down” (first played in 2005, last in 2017), AC/DC’s “Let There Be Rock” (first played in 2015, last in 2019) and Alice Cooper’s “Under My Wheels” (first played in 2017, last in 2019). Late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022, often sang lead on the Queen cover and called the band’s 1979 live album his “drum bible.” Grohl has spoken about AC/DC’s impact after Malcolm Young’s death, and the band has performed these songs at venues worldwide, including the United States, Brazil, England and Croatia.
