Food and drink brands dominate UK kids' Coolest Brands 2026 report

The Beano Brain 2026 Coolest Brands report reveals that food and drink brands remain the most popular category among UK children aged 7 to 14, despite government efforts to restrict advertising for products high in fat, sugar, and salt (HFSS).

Based on a study of 10,000 children, the food and drink sector accounts for 29% of the Top 100 list. McDonald’s has risen to the number two spot, while other high-ranking brands include KFC (12th), Coca-Cola (13th), Cadbury (14th), and Pringles (15th). Haribo, Domino’s Pizza, Nutella, and Oreo also secured positions within the Top 25.

The report suggests that the popularity of these brands stems from more than just advertising. Fast food outlets like McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, and Nando’s serve as accessible “third spaces” where children can socialize independently. Factors such as value menus, cultural collaborations, and limited-edition products contribute to the continued relevance of these brands in the lives of Generation Alpha.
