Food Basket Prices Rise Over 22% in Córdoba, Argentina First Half 2026

The Provincial Ombudsman's office reported that the basic food basket (Canasta Básica Alimentaria) in Córdoba rose 22.34% during the first six months of 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier. Monthly inflation for the basket was 1.88% in June, leading to an annual increase of 34.98% from June 2025. A typical four‑person household needed AR$ 664,852 to cover food purchases in June.

The report highlighted the biggest price jumps by category: flours and legumes (+29.53%), fruits and vegetables (+25.78%), and meats (+21.63%). Dairy products rose 18.46% and dry‑goods items increased the least at 10.28%. The total basic basket, which also includes essential non‑food items, cost AR$ 1,462,676. "During the first half of the year food prices grew faster than overall household expenses, deepening access difficulties for the most vulnerable families," said Carlos Galoppo, Deputy Ombudsman of Córdoba.
