Food delivery trends shift among Italian football viewers

A survey conducted by SWG for Deliveroo reveals shifting dietary habits among Italians watching football on television. While home-cooked meals remain the preferred option for 63% of the total population, food delivery is becoming a significant part of the match-day ritual, especially among younger demographics.

Among Generation Z, the gap between home cooking and online ordering has narrowed significantly, with 43% opting for delivery compared to 47% who cook at home. This trend is also evident among Millennials, with 54% choosing delivery. The primary motivation for using these services is convenience; 51.5% of respondents associate delivery with the ability to relax without the need to cook or clean dishes.

Pizza remains the most popular food choice for watching matches, selected by approximately 63% of respondents. Interest in pizza is particularly high in Southern Italy and the islands, reaching 67%. Other popular options include snacks and finger foods, such as chicken wings and nuggets, which account for 21% of choices. Younger generations show a growing inclination toward variety, with Gen Z expressing higher interest in hamburgers and international cuisines like sushi, poké, and Chinese food.
