The Food Festival in Aarhus attracted 27,000 visitors across ten areas, featuring various culinary competitions and seafood tastings. The Danish Fishermen's Association tent distributed 9,500 samples of fish and shellfish, including lobster and shrimp, to attendees.
In the Hotdog Championship, Restaurant Fauna from Aalborg won the main prize with a hotdog featuring venison, guanciale, and North Jutlandic flower honey. Other winners included BBQ Vikings for the grill competition and Ziropa x Njord Gin for Cocktail of the Year. The “Hotdog King” award, based on sales volume, went to Restaurant Fjord x Kalu for their “Quack Attack” duck sausage hotdog.
The festival also addressed the crisis facing Danish fruit and vegetable production. Chef Nikolaj Kirk participated in discussions regarding the importance of supporting local produce to ensure the survival of domestic varieties and food security.
