Food Lion to open six new stores in Carolinas and Georgia by 2026

Grocery retailer Food Lion has announced plans to open six additional stores across the Carolinas and Georgia by the end of 2026. This expansion follows four new store openings earlier in the year, bringing the total number of new locations for 2026 to ten.

The scheduled openings include Summerfield, N.C. (Sept. 23), Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 7), and Lavonia, Ga. (Oct. 14). Three South Carolina locations are also planned for Greenville, Hilton Head, and Wren, with openings set for October, November, and December, respectively.

New locations will feature omnichannel shopping capabilities, including pickup and home delivery via the Food Lion To Go website and app, as well as partnerships with Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Stores will offer self-checkout lanes, fresh produce, and the brand’s Nature’s Promise organic line. Additionally, each new store will support local food banks through the Food Lion Feeds hunger relief platform.
