Food logistics providers expand operations in Japan
mitaseruJAPAN, a frozen food e-commerce provider under the Mitsui Fudosan Group, has opened a new manufacturing and logistics hub in Funabashi, Chiba. The facility, known as the Funabashi Central Kitchen, includes a specialized frozen warehouse and is designed to strengthen the supply chain for the Tokyo metropolitan area, which accounts for 60% of the company's customers.
The new site features heated rooms for chef-led cooking, filling rooms for precise packaging, and rapid freezing technology using blast chillers. By partnering with Yamato Transport, the company aims to streamline delivery by transporting goods directly to logistics terminals, bypassing local sales offices to handle increased volume. mitaseruJAPAN has set a sales target of 5 billion yen by 2030.
Separately, Toho Food Service (TFS) announced plans to expand its operational footprint in November. The company will relocate its Kagoshima branch to a newly constructed facility on an adjacent site and transform its Numazu sales office into the Fuji Branch by moving it into a cold chain logistics center. These moves are intended to strengthen the company's sales base and market share in southern Kyushu and eastern Shizuoka.
