Food markets report varying price stability for essential goods
Recent market monitoring in Toluca and Tarija shows varying levels of price stability for essential food items. In the Mercado Juárez de Toluca, grocery prices remained relatively stable through mid-October. However, vendors anticipate potential price fluctuations in the coming days due to increased consumer demand surrounding upcoming end-of-month festivities.
Specific price trends in Toluca include slight decreases in chicken breast, chicken legs, and serrano chili. Beef and pork prices remained steady, while various fruits and vegetables like avocado and potato showed little movement. Vendors noted that price adjustments are driven by supplier availability, consumer volume, and product waste.
In the Mercado Abasto CRAMA in Tarija, reference prices for meat and produce were released to assist local families. Beef is priced between Bs 70 and Bs 74 per kilogram, while pork ranges from Bs 33 to Bs 45. Poultry is available for Bs 16 to Bs 17 per kilogram. Vegetable prices vary significantly by unit, with onion and carrot costs listed for both bulk and smaller quantities.
