Food prices fluctuate across markets in Cuautla and Veracruz

Food prices in various Mexican markets are showing divergent trends. In Cuautla, Morelos, at the Hermenegildo Galeana municipal market, prices for avocado and lemon have decreased. Lemons are selling for between 10 and 15 pesos per kilogram, while avocados are priced at approximately 40 pesos per kilogram, depending on quality.

Conversely, in Veracruz, merchants at the Hidalgo market report price increases for several basic goods. Onion prices have risen from 20 pesos to over 30 pesos per kilogram. Lemon prices have also climbed, with high-quality varieties exceeding 30 pesos. Additionally, papaya prices have increased from 20 pesos to a range of 25 to 28 pesos.

Merchants attribute these fluctuations to weather conditions, such as heavy rains, which affect field production and product availability. While some items like jalapeño peppers have seen price drops, others remain volatile due to environmental factors and supply constraints.
