Food security challenges persist in Australia and the United States

In Australia, the Orange-based food bank FoodCare has received a donation of a 12-seater Toyota Hiace mini-bus from NDIS provider Kirinari. The vehicle is intended to provide guaranteed transport for volunteers and serve as a delivery van for food pick-ups, addressing logistical challenges faced by the service following the end of a previous transport arrangement.

In the United States, nutrition experts are highlighting the impact of rising grocery costs and declining SNAP participation on family food security. Researchers from Tufts University note that recent declines in SNAP enrollment, following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill (HR 1) in 2025, may jeopardize children's eligibility for free school meal programs, creating additional nutritional risks for vulnerable households.
