Food supply irregularities reported in Venezuela and Chile
In Venezuela, a citizen has reported the alleged systematic theft of food supplies at the Hospital Universitario de Caracas. Video footage shows individuals transporting bags of meat and chicken intended for hospital staff. During the confrontation, a man identified as a ‘comisario’ intervened to prevent questioning and ordered the workers to continue moving the goods. The complainant stated that these practices are recurring and intends to take the case to the Public Ministry.
In Chile, health authorities in Antofagasta have sanctioned Carnicería Doña Viviana following a sanitary inspection. Officials seized and destroyed over 50 kilograms of meat that were either expired or had lost their vacuum seal. The Seremi de Salud has initiated a sanitary summary process, with potential fines ranging from one-tenth to one thousand UTM. The inspection was part of a broader effort by the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) to ensure food traceability and safety ahead of national holidays.
