Mercadona introduces new labeling for price reductions

Mercadona has implemented new visual signaling in its stores to help customers identify price reductions on approximately 170 essential items. Shoppers can identify these permanent price drops by looking for yellow labels on the shelves, which feature the previous price crossed out next to the new, lower rate. This system distinguishes discounted goods from the standard salmon-colored labels used for regular pricing.

Beneficiaries of these price adjustments include staples such as olive oil, various types of milk, rice, legumes, pasta, and certain cheeses and deli meats.

Additionally, recent product launches at the retailer have drawn consumer attention regarding nutritional value. While some ready-to-eat meals are marketed as balanced, nutritional analysis indicates they may contain moderate to high levels of sodium, refined oils, and thickeners, prompting a recommendation for consumers to carefully review ingredient labels.
