Foodora transitions delivery fleet to bicycles and e-bikes
Foodora is transitioning its entire delivery fleet to bicycles and e-bikes starting October 1. This move follows new Austrian traffic regulations that classify e-mopeds as motor vehicles, effectively banning them from bicycle paths.
To support this transition, the company plans to invest seven figures by 2027. Foodora is working with the company Cycle to provide riders with access to bicycles, e-bikes, and maintenance services. The company aims to address rider concerns regarding costs and practical implementation through information sessions and roadshows held in cities including Vienna, Graz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck.
Dragan Milovanovic, Managing Director of Foodora Austria, stated that the shift is a consistent step as e-bikes are already a significant part of their model. The company expects no noticeable impact on the delivery experience for customers or business partners.
