Football analysis explores home advantage and Nemanja Matic's role at Sassuolo

Discussions regarding modern football highlight the evolving role of the home advantage and the tactical importance of experienced players. While the concept of the crowd as a ‘twelfth man’ remains a deeply rooted belief, the traditional advantage of playing at home is being mitigated by the standardization of pitches, improved travel conditions, and technological interventions like VAR.

In the context of Italian football, Nemanja Matic has emerged as a vital technical reference for Sassuolo under manager Alberto Aquilani. Despite being 38 years old, the Serbian midfielder provides essential stability in a 4-3-3 formation. Acting as a deep-lying playmaker, Matic assists in building play from the back, protecting the central zone, and directing the team's tactical progression through intelligent positioning rather than pure physical intensity.
