Football Association of Malaysia seeks new B-23 head coach
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has not yet finalized the appointment of a new head coach for the Malaysia Under-23 national team. The position has remained vacant since Nafuzi Zain stepped down in June to rejoin Terengganu FC.
FAM President Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan stated that the association is focused on identifying a suitable candidate to prepare the squad for the 2027 SEA Games, which Malaysia will host. He emphasized the importance of securing the best results as hosts, noting that the team's success will depend on the selection and capabilities of the players.
In a separate discussion regarding the senior national team, football observer Prof. Madya Dr. Zulakbal Abd Karim suggested that FAM should consider high-profile European coaches, specifically from Spain. He noted that a Spanish coach might better align with the playing style of many national team players who currently play for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), a club that utilizes European expertise and philosophy.
