Football Association of Zambia implements new referee communication systems

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has procured modern communication systems for match officials to be used in the MTN Super League and National Division One. The deployment begins this week, covering fixtures such as the Kitwe derby between Power Dynamos and Nkana.

The new equipment includes wireless transceiver units, headsets, and charging units. According to FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya, the initiative fulfills a pledge made by FAZ President Keith Mweemba to address the lack of communication tools.

The technology is intended to improve coordination, teamwork, and real-time decision-making among officials. By allowing for quick verbal check-ins, the systems aim to reduce officiating errors related to blind spots and close calls without disrupting the flow of play.
