Football club presidents criticize scheduling and disciplinary sanctions

Club officials in Peru and Ecuador have expressed dissatisfaction with recent football administration decisions.

In Peru, Víctor Gonzales Candia, president of Viargoca FC, criticized the scheduling of a Copa Perú match against Sport Áncash. The match was set for a Tuesday night in Huaraz, a decision Gonzales claims was not communicated promptly to his board. He argued that the late timing and travel requirements would hinder player recovery and training ahead of subsequent weekend fixtures. He also criticized the Liga Departamental de Fútbol de Arequipa (Lidefa) for failing to demand alternative venues that would allow for more standard scheduling.

In Ecuador, Isaac Álvarez, president of Liga de Quito, criticized sanctions imposed by LigaPro following the use of flares by fans. The sanctions include fines and the closure of the ‘general sur baja’ section for an upcoming home match against Aucas. Álvarez stated that these measures cause both sporting and financial harm to the club, noting that such restrictions impact revenue and can distract the squad during a decisive phase of the season.
