Football clubs face financial and legal disputes in Tunisia and Chad
Club Sportif Sfaxien (CSS) faces a new recruitment ban imposed by FIFA due to unpaid fines totaling 500,000 dinars. The debt stems from two former players, Wadhahi Sghaïri and Adem Bellamine, neither of whom played official matches for the club. Sghaïri was a loanee during the 2022-2023 season, while Bellamine’s contract was terminated after only six months in 2024. The situation has been attributed to poor management and a failure to reach amicable separation agreements with players.
In Chad, legal counsel Jean Sirina has clarified the nature of a financial dispute involving Senator Ibrahim Wanglaouna Foullah and the Chadian Football Federation (FTFA). Addressing rumors of disciplinary sanctions from FIFA, Sirina stated that the requested funds are not a direct penalty from Zurich, but rather the settlement of administrative and arbitration fees related to a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling issued on October 30, 2024. The ruling followed disputes regarding the federation's electoral process.
