Football federation leaders in Cameroon and Algeria face legal scrutiny

Football federations in Cameroon and Algeria are facing significant legal challenges regarding financial management.

In Cameroon, Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation, is the subject of a complaint involving allegations of misappropriating public funds. The legal action was initiated by the Association of Amateur Football Clubs, which is seeking greater transparency in how funds intended for football development are utilized.

In Algeria, prosecutors have requested heavy prison sentences for former leaders of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). During a trial in Algiers, the public prosecutor requested ten-year prison terms for three former presidents: Kheïreddine Zetchi, Charaf-Eddine Amara, and Djahid Zefizef. The case involves alleged financial irregularities, including the examination of commercial contracts and administrative decisions. The Treasury's judicial agent is seeking 900 million Algerian dinars in damages.
