Football leagues in Argentina undergo administrative restructuring
Two regional football leagues in Argentina are undergoing administrative and financial restructuring to resolve institutional irregularities.
In Neuquén, the new board of Club Social y Deportivo Petrolero Argentino reported that the entity paid 3,597,000 pesos to avoid sanctions and maintain participation in the Liga de Fútbol del Neuquén (LIFUNE). The payment covered fines, maintenance fees, and administrative claims. The club also reported several financial irregularities, including unpaid salaries and unexplained bank transfers totaling millions of pesos to individuals outside the institution. The board has requested an accounting of funds from Eduardo Hermosilla, including a 50,000,000 peso provincial contribution intended for maintenance and works.
In Escobar, the Liga Escobarense de Fútbol (LEF) has begun a normalization process following the expiration of its last board's mandate. Supported by the Municipality of Escobar, a normalization commission has been appointed for six months to reorganize government bodies, reconstruct documentation, and update membership rolls. This process was initiated by an assembly of self-convened members from five founding clubs: Independiente de Escobar (CAIDE), Sportivo Escobar, Boca del Tigre, Villa Vallier, and Mutual de Bomberos.
