Football supporters clash in Belgium and the Netherlands
Recent violent clashes involving football supporters in Belgium and the Netherlands have led to immediate disciplinary and legal actions.
In Belgium, a confrontation occurred at a parking lot near the E313 between fans of Beerschot and KV Mechelen. A KV Mechelen supporter bus was attacked, resulting in material damage. Police identified sixteen individuals through camera footage, twelve of whom have received immediate stadium bans. The supporters' club, De Paarse Propere Handen, has apologized for the incident and suspended all bus travel pending an internal evaluation.
In the Netherlands, a large brawl broke out in Eindhoven involving approximately 70 supporters, reportedly from VVV-Venlo and PSV Eindhoven. The fight took place near the Strijp-S station and the Klokgebouw after a VVV-Venlo bus stopped in the area. Police deployed significant resources, including dogs, to contain the violence. While no arrests were immediately made, the VVV-Venlo supporters were barred from attending their scheduled match in Volendam.
