Football tournaments announced for LFA Cup and Arab Club Champions Cup

The round of 16 for the LFA amateur football league cup, formerly known as the HCCT Cup, begins on Monday, October 5, 2026. The tournament features 32 teams from National 1, National 2, and regional divisions. Defending champion Africa Foot of Dakar is seeking to retain its title in this single-elimination competition. The final tournament for the eight quarter-finalists will be held in Ziguinchor, with prize money reaching 15,000,000 FCFA for the winner.

Separately, the Arab Football Union (UAFA) has announced the return of the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2027 after a three-year hiatus. The next edition is scheduled to take place from July 21 to August 8, 2027. Discussions are currently underway with Egyptian authorities regarding the possibility of hosting the event in Egypt. UAFA officials noted that the scheduling will require close coordination with FIFA to manage the high density of the international football calendar.
