Football transfer updates: Gabigol's future at Santos and Sporting's interest in Germán Valera

Santos football director Alexandre Mattos has clarified the club's current stance regarding striker Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol. Mattos stated that Santos has not yet initiated negotiations with Cruzeiro concerning the player's future.

According to Mattos, any discussions will likely wait until after the conclusion of the Brazilian Championship and the club's internal electoral process. The club intends to first determine the player's own wishes regarding his career before proceeding with formal contact.

In European football, Sporting CP is reportedly monitoring Spanish winger Germán Valera following his strong performances with Elche. The 24-year-old, who is under contract until 2027, has drawn interest from both Sporting and Club Brugge. Valera's market value is currently estimated at 6 million euros.
