Football transfers: Solari joins Newell's and Pezzella moves to Peñarol

Santiago Solari has joined Newell's Old Boys on a loan deal from Racing Club. The agreement, which includes an option to purchase, runs until June 30, 2027. Solari has passed medical examinations and is available for manager Frank Darío Kudelka following negotiations that initially faced delays due to disagreements with Racing Club.

In a separate transfer, defender Germán Pezzella is moving from River Plate to Peñarol. Peñarol president Ignacio Ruglio confirmed the agreement, noting that the contract extends until the end of 2027. The move follows Pezzella's departure from River Plate, a decision Ruglio questioned given the player's status as a world champion. Pezzella is expected to compete in the upcoming Copa Libertadores with his new club.
