Tonny Vilhena nears return to Eredivisie with Willem II

Dutch midfielder Tonny Vilhena is nearing a return to the Eredivisie with Willem II. The 31-year-old, currently under contract with Panathinaikos, is a primary target for the Tilburg-based club as they seek to add experience to their midfield.

Vilhena, a former Feyenoord academy product with over 200 appearances for the club, has spent recent years playing for various teams including Espanyol, Salernitana, Alanyaspor, and Panathinaikos. He has not featured for the Greek side this season and is not part of their current tactical plans.

A move to Willem II would provide financial relief for Panathinaikos, potentially saving the club approximately €1.5 million in remaining salary obligations for the final year of his contract.
