Football updates: Giménez joins Deportivo and Elche CF announces new signings

José María Giménez has joined Deportivo de La Coruña following a 13-year tenure with Atlético de Madrid. Seeking a new challenge, the defender was encouraged by friends Jacobo Torres and Erick Cabaco, who highlighted the club's history and the legacy of Uruguayan players at the institution.

In separate news, Elche CF has announced four new signings to bolster its squad for the current league season: Ezequiel Ponce, Thomas Lemar, Rubén Sánchez, and Kevin Lomónaco. Ezequiel Ponce returns to the club on a contract through 2027, while Thomas Lemar joins on loan from Atlético de Madrid. The signings aim to improve the team's standing following a difficult start to the league campaign.
