Football updates: Zakaria Bakkali becomes free agent as Mateo Biondic joins Union Saint-Gilloise

Former Belgian talent Zakaria Bakkali is currently without a club following the conclusion of his tenure with Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger. The 30-year-old winger, who previously played for clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Valencia, and Anderlecht, has been a free agent since July 2026.

In a separate football development, striker Mateo Biondic has successfully transitioned from the German fourth division to the Belgian top flight. While playing for Eintracht Trier, Biondic faced financial difficulties and applied for a position in the police force, but was rejected due to the incompatibility with his football career. He subsequently signed with Union Saint-Gilloise in the winter of 2026 and is currently under contract until 2030.
