Football Victoria dispute disrupts Soccer Peninsula Strikers

Soccer Peninsula Strikers and Football Victoria (FV) are in a dispute regarding the scheduling of a critical catch-up match against Mooroolbark. The fixture, which will determine relegation from State 2 South-East, is set to take place at Jack Thomas Reserve in Berwick on Tuesday night.

The conflict arose after a previous match between the two teams was abandoned due to a severe leg injury suffered by Strikers player Max Civil. While Strikers expected to maintain home ground advantage for the rescheduled game, FV mandated that the match be played away.

Strikers president Adrian Scialpi expressed frustration over the decision, stating the club has been treated with “utter disrespect” and has received no clear reasoning for the change. The club faces the high-stakes match while dealing with significant roster shortages, including the absence of Matt Harrington and both primary goalkeepers.
